Matsiko World Orphan Choir Comes to Grace Communities

Posted 3/30/2015

A choir made up of joy-filled orphaned children brought smiles to the faces of local seniors at two Grace Lutheran Foundation communities in March.

The Matsiko World Orphan Choir came to Eau Claire on Friday, March 13th. Matsiko is a Ugandan word for “hope." This word embodies both the children and the songs that they sing.

“We are thrilled for our residents to see the Matsiko choir. These children sing such beautiful songs, and their stories are truly inspirational,” said Grace Lutheran Foundation CEO Mike Christensen.

Through the Matsiko World Orphan Choir, thousands of children will be reached with the hope of a brighter future. Proceeds generated by the choir tour and merchandise sales go directly to support International Childrens Network’s worldwide programs, including life-changing educational sponsorship that affords orphaned children a chance at a university degree.

Grace Lutheran Communities has been helping our friends and neighbors in communities all over the Chippewa Valley since 1960. The non-profit organization specializes in rehabilitation, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, child care, independent living, and adult day services.
