Eau Claire - Kids and their parents will get a special treat this Halloween when seniors at Syverson Lutheran Home will be handing out candy. The special event has been going on for decades and coincides with the downtown trick or treating program in Eau Claire.

“We love Halloween here at Syverson and every year when the kids come trick or treating the smiles on the resident’s faces and how excited they get reminds all the staff why we love to work here”, said Syverson Administrator Randy Rennock.

The children will be going door to door to get their treats. But the biggest treat may be for the seniors. Many of them remember when their own children were getting dressed up to go out in search of candy. Experts say these kinds of events are also important for seniors who are battling dementia or early onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Syverson Lutheran Home provides a fun and safe experience for kids of all ages and their families on this traditionally spooky day.
