Kids and Seniors Learn about Reptiles

Posted 4/24/2015

Local school kids and seniors got an up-close and personal introduction to the interesting world of reptiles with a special intergenerational program at Grace Willowbrook Assisted Living on April 24.

“It’s such a good time when the kids come to Willowbrook to see all the seniors. They have so much fun together, especially when they have something exciting like reptiles to see and touch,” Administrator Peggy Husby said.

The animal education company Nature Connection presented a program on reptiles. The third-graders from Robins Elementary School join the seniors each month to learn and interact with each other. This program brought snakes, turtles and lizards for the kids and seniors to hold and learn about.

Husby added, “We believe it’s important for kids to interact with and talk to seniors on a regular basis. They can learn so much from each other. I know our residents enjoy talking to the kids, which always brings back so many fond memories.”

Grace Lutheran Communities has been helping our friends and neighbors in communities all over the Chippewa Valley since 1960. The non-profit organization specializes in rehabilitation, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, child care, independent living, and adult day services.
